Pretrial Procedures

All Pretrial Conferences are mandatory appearances. If you do not attend the conference as scheduled, you will be found guilty by default of the offense as charged on your citation.

City of Horicon Citations


After your plea of not guilty is entered a Pretrial Conference will be scheduled. You will be given a specific two-day period to call and set up your pretrial conference with the City Attorney. His office is located at 318 East Lake Street in Horicon. At this meeting you will explain to the City Attorney why you believe you are not guilty of the offense you have been charged with. At this point the City Attorney may petition the Court to amend the charges to a more fitting offense, dismiss the charges or request that the matter be set for trial before the Judge.

Village of Hustisford Citations


After your plea of not guilty is entered a Pretrial Conference will be scheduled for you to contact the Village Attorney within 10 days from the date of the notice to set up your pretrial conference. At this meeting you will explain to the Village Attorney why you believe you are not guilty of the offense you have been charged with. At this point the Village Attorney may petition the Court to amend the charges to a more fitting offense, dismiss the charges or request that the matter be set for trial before the Judge.

Village of Iron Ridge Citations


After your plea of not guilty is entered a Pretrial Conference will be scheduled with the Village Attorney. You will be ordered to contact the Village Attorney by a specific date to make a pretrial appointment. At this meeting you will explain to the Village Attorney why you believe you are not guilty of the offense you have been charged with. At this point the Village Attorney may petition the Court to amend the charges to a more fitting offense, dismiss the charges or request that the matter be set for trial before the Judge.

Judge Approval


Any agreement made between the defendant and the City/Village Attorney must meet the approval of the Judge. If the Judge disapproves the agreement, the matter will be set for a Trial before the court.
